Banning High center Bryan Hill, who helped the Pilots win their first City Section title in 10 years, has been named 3-A Division player of the year by members of the Amateur Athletic Foundation/First Interstate Bank board of athletics.

Hill, a 6-foot-7 senior, averaged 13.5 points, 12.6 rebounds and 4.1 blocked shots a game. He had 14 points, 18 rebounds and four blocks March 5 to help Banning (17-12) defeat Monroe, 59-58, in the 3-A championship game at the Sports Arena.

“He was easily the best center in L.A. City 3-A,” Banning Coach Marc Paez said.

Hill is joined on the All-City 3-A team by Banning teammate Jason Pickett, a 6-1 junior guard who averaged a team-leading 20.3 points; San Pedro guard Raymond Tutt, a 6-3 senior who led City players with a 32.5 scoring average; and Gardena guard Robert Isaacs, a 5-10 senior who averaged 18.6 points. Tutt is the only repeat selection.
