Orlando Canizales successfully defended his International Boxing Federation bantamweight title for the 11th consecutive time, stopping Clarence Adams in the 11th round at Evian, France.
Canizales, 28, of Laredo, Tex., is approaching the division record of 15 consecutive defenses set by Manuel Ortiz from 1942-47.
Canizales, 34-1-1 with 25 knockouts, was defending his title on French soil for the third time.
Adams, 18, of Carmi, Ill., suffered his first loss after 26 victories and a draw.
A crushing left to Adams’ jaw was the deciding blow.
