Countywide : Property Taxes Are Due Monday
Ventura County’s treasurer-tax collector has issued a reminder to owners of the about 225,000 parcels assessed property taxes in the county that the second installment of this year’s tax bill is due by Monday.
The tax collector’s office will be open through this week from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and will also be open during the same hours Saturday to receive payments, said John McKinney, assistant treasurer-tax collector.
Taxpayers who want to mail their checks to the county but can’t get the payment postmarked by Monday’s deadline can use a special mailbox outside the Government Center until midnight Monday, McKinney said.
McKinney said taxpayers who miss the deadline will automatically be charged an additional 10% of their second installment and a $10 processing fee. Last year, 18,462 taxpayers missed the April deadline, costing them an additional $1.1 million in penalties.
