Irvine 14, Tate (Fla.) 3--Tommie Louie (4-2) reached base three times when he hit a home run, was hit by a pitch and was walked and pitched the first four innings for the victory. Irvine’s Aron Garcia had three hits and four RBIs. Ryan Jones had two hits, scored three runs and drove in another, Scott Seal had two hits, scored two runs and had an RBI, and Ryan O’Toole had two hits and two RBIs for Irvine (10-5).

Simi Valley 13, Mater Dei 4--Ryan Hankins had five RBIs and scored four runs to lead Simi Valley (11-1), ranked second in the nation by USA Today. Kurt Divino hit a two-run home run for Mater Dei (11-2).

In the consolation round:

Coconut Creek (Fla.) 2, El Dorado 1--Graham Clemons singled home Chad Peters, who had tripled, with El Dorado’s run in the fourth. Donny Jamieson pitched a three-hitter for the Hawks (9-5). Richie Findone pitched a five-hitter with 11 strikeouts for Coconut Creek (14-3).
