It has already been a memorable season for St. Bernard High’s Olympia Scott.

But the 6-foot-3 junior added another honor Wednesday when she was named Southern Section Division IV Player of the Year by the Amateur Athletic Foundation-First Interstate All-Southern California Board of Athletics.

Scott, who is regarded as one of the top college prospects among underclassmen in Southern California, averaged 11.6 points to lead the Vikings to their first State Division IV title in March.

She was joined on the All-Division IV team by teammates Joi Turner and Kelly Shimabukuro. It marked the third season in a row that Turner, a 5-4 senior who averaged 10.6 points, has made an All-Southern Section team. Shimabukuro, also a 5-4 senior, averaged 13 points.

Four South Bay players were chosen to the All-Division III team. Leading the way are Morningside seniors Tina Thompson and Cha-Ron Walker, who helped the Monarchs win the Division III-AA title--the fifth Southern Section title for the school in six seasons.

It was the second consecutive season that Thompson made the All-Division III team and the first time for Walker. Junior center Stephanie Pfau of South Torrance, who made the second team last season, and senior guard Natalie Graham of Bishop Montgomery also made the first team.

Senior Olivia DiCamilli of Costa Mesa, who led her team to a victory over Morningside in the Southern California Division III regional final, was named the division player of the year.

The only South Bay player included on the Division V team was Gateway Christian guard Angie Kisena. The 5-4 senior, who made the second team, led the South Bay in scoring with a 28.2-point average.
