Two cars collided head-on in Woodland Hills early Saturday morning, killing both drivers and critically injuring a passenger in one of the cars, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.
The accident occurred at 12:20 a.m. when a northbound car driven by Eric Heeber, 21, of Encino crossed the double yellow line on Topanga Canyon Boulevard and smashed into an oncoming car, said the Los Angeles County coroner’s office. Both Heeber and the driver of the other car, Steven Olson, 31, of Encino, were killed in the accident, which occurred at the intersection of Topanga Canyon and Ybarra Road, said Officer Dana Dejongh.
A 20-year-old woman riding in Heeber’s car was taken to Northridge Hospital Medical Center with critical injuries, Dejongh said. He declined to identify the woman.
Dejongh said he did not know why Heeber’s car crossed over the double lines.
