In other South Coast League games:

Dana Hills 2, San Clemente 0--Sophomore Scott Maynard pitched a five-hitter and struck out eight for Dana Hills (10-7, 3-3). Chris Fogleson had an RBI single and Brian Maddox had a sacrifice fly for the Dolphins. San Clemente pitcher Chad Wanders allowed only two hits.

El Toro 5, Mission Viejo 4--Brandon Hendrikx had two hits, including a double and an RBI, for El Toro (3-3 in league). Marc VerWayne scattered nine hits and struck out one to earn the victory. Mission Viejo is 1-5 in league.

In the Century League:

El Modena 12, Villa Park 5--Scott Emery had four hits and four RBIs and Chad Smith had four hits and three RBIs to lead visiting El Modena (3-12, 1-4).

Orange 5, Foothill 4--Jacob Garza had a single, double, home run and two RBIs to lead Orange (3-2) past Foothill (3-2).

In the Empire League:

Cypress 15, Loara 4--Bobby Brito had three hits and seven RBIs, including a grand slam in the first inning, for Cypress (3-3 in league). Dan Gusman had three hits and an RBI for host Loara (2-13, 0-6).

Esperanza 1, Los Alamitos 0--Jason Murrietta walked with the bases loaded to score Billy O’Connor in the third inning for Esperanza (10-5, 4-1), ranked third in the county. Host Los Alamitos is 8-7-1, 2-3.

Katella 12, El Dorado 11--Katella (12-5, 3-3) rallied from an 11-2 deficit and upset the sixth-ranked team in Orange County when Leo Garcia walked with the bases loaded in the bottom of the seventh.

Jaret Wright hit an infield single to drive in the tying run and scored on Garcia’s walk to cap a three-run seventh for the Knights. El Dorado is 5-1 in league.

In the Freeway League

Buena Park 3, Sunny Hills 2--Jesus Lopez had two home runs and three RBIs for Buena Park (10-4, 3-3). Alfredo Garcia, who earned his first save, got out of a bases-loaded jam in the top of the seventh. Sunny Hills is 10-6-1, 3-3.

Fullerton 6, La Habra 1--Ryan Golisano pitched a two-hitter and struck out six for host Fullerton (3-9-2, 1-4-1).

In the Olympic League:

Orange Lutheran 5, Whittier Christian 0--Jeff Courvoisier pitched a three-hitter with seven strikeouts and one walk, and faced four over the minimum for the Lancers (11-5, 4-0). Courvoisier also had two hits and two RBIs for host Orange Lutheran. Whittier Christian is 3-2, 7-8.

In the Orange League:

Western 17, Valencia 13--Jeff Livingston hit two home runs and earned the save for host Western (10-6-1, 4-1-1). Matt Montgomery hit a three-run home run in the third and had five RBIs for Western. Chris Draft had a home run and four RBIs for Valencia (8-9, 3-3).

In the Sunset League:

Edison 3, Santa Ana 1--Junior Todd Belitz pitched a two-hitter, striking out four and walking two for ninth-ranked Edison (12-3, 5-0). Edison’s Steve Blanchard scored the go-ahead run on a wild pitch in the sixth inning. Santa Ana is 0-5 in league.

Fountain Valley 9, Marina 5--Brian Ponchak’s grand slam highlighted a seven-run outburst which gave Fountain Valley an 8-4 lead in the fourth. Kent Montgomery pitched three innings of relief, allowing one unearned run, to earn the victory for the Barons (13-4, 4-1), ranked fifth in the county. Marina is 2-3 in league.
