Dunphy’s Done It: Veteran newscaster Jerry Dunphy will receive the 1993 Los Angeles Area Governors Emmy Award from the board of governors of the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences (ATAS), Leo Chaloukian, the group’s president, announced. Dunphy, who anchors KCAL-Channel 9’s “Prime News at 9,” is celebrating his 40th year in TV news. He worked at what is now KCBS from 1960-1975 and at KABC from 1975-1989. The award, which Dunphy will receive at the June 5 Los Angeles Area Emmys ceremony at the Pasadena Civic Auditorium, recognizes individuals, groups or shows that have made a special contribution to TV in Los Angeles.
