It might be a long year for La Quinta softball pitcher Teresa Pinkerton. Despite an 0-10 record, Coach Steve Castle said Pinkerton, a senior, is much better than her record indicates. Her earned-run average is 1.36, but her team has allowed 18 unearned runs in games she has pitched. She has had five one-run losses, including two by 1-0 scores. In three of the other five losses the Aztecs failed to score at all.
“We just aren’t scoring enough runs,” Castle said. “We haven’t made the crucial plays on defense and we haven’t gotten the crucial hits.”
The Aztecs are 3-11 overall.
