Holland Gets Contract Extension

Cal State Fullerton men’s basketball Coach Brad Holland, who guided a team picked for ninth in the Big West Conference into a tie for fifth in his debut season, had his contract extended for a year by the school Thursday.

The deal keeps Holland, who signed a three-year rollover contract last April 8, tied to the school for three years.

“We’re obviously pleased with the direction of the program,” Fullerton Athletic Director Bill Shumard said. “It is in keeping with what our thoughts were when we hired him.

“This year’s team had an impressive season. They overachieved. They had a great amount of togetherness and respect for their coaches.”

Holland’s deal calls for a base salary of $70,000, with a $10,000 supplement from Fullerton boosters plus money from basketball camps and a shoe contract that could increase the salary to about $100,000 annually. Due to Holland’s late arrival at Fullerton last season, he didn’t have a chance to set up a basketball camp or a shoe contract.

The Titans finished 15-12, 10-8 in the Big West, in Holland’s first season.
