ORANGE COUNTY ALL-STAR SOCCER : Talented Goalkeepers Will Be Tested

A couple of talented goalkeepers on the North boys’ and girls’ soccer teams figure to see plenty of shots by South squad members today in the Orange County Coaches’ Assn. All-Star high school soccer games at Chapman University.

The girls’ game begins at 4 p.m. and the boys start at 8. Between games, members of the L.A. Salsa will help prep players with a variety of soccer techniques and drills. General admission is $2.

The North girls are led by Canyon goalkeeper Tina Thompson, who was The Times Orange County player of the year this past season. Thompson, with 22 shutouts, led the Comanches into the Southern Section Division II championship game.

Santa Margarita’s Matt Reis will be in goal for the North boys. Reis, who was similarly honored by The Times, recorded a school-record 20 shutouts in leading the Eagles to the Southern Section Division IV co-championship.
