Alain Prost won the pole position for the San Marino Grand Prix at Imola, Italy, the fourth time in as many this year the Frenchman has been the top qualifier for a Formula One race.
Prost edged his Williams-Renault teammate, Damon Hill, of England by 0.09 seconds.
Prost covered the 3.132-mile lap around the Imola track in 1:22.07 seconds. His average speed was 137.3 m.p.h.
