5 Area Men to Play in Senior Sectional Finals

Gordon Davis of Encino was one of five local players who advanced to today’s final round of the Southern California Senior Sectional tournament at The Racquet Center in Studio City.
Davis defeated Frenanda Quesada of Pasadena, 6-0, 6-2, in men’s 55 singles.
Don Brousseau of Glendale defeated Tom Wire of Encino, 7-6, 1-6, 7-6, to advance to the men’s 45 singles final.
Others advancing included Robert Piken of Studio City, who beat Kevin Armstrong of Irvine by default in men’s 25 singles; Miese Sei of Westlake Village, who defeated Larry Robineau of Beverly Hills, 6-3, 6-4, in men’s 50 singles, and Jack Simpson of Van Nuys, who beat Robin Willner of Los Angeles, 2-6, 6-2, 6-2, in men 65 singles.
No women players from the area advanced to the final round.
