You Bet Your Life, Young Fan Isn’t Going to Pass Up a Chance

Bill Cosby is used to having fans stop in their tracks on the street to say hello to him. But Saturday, one stopped on the track during a race to do so.

That’s what happened during the Penn Relays when an unidentified member of the St. Jago High boys’ 1,600-meter relay team saw the entertainer standing near the finish line and pulled up short, allowing Kamal Dorsainville of Uniondale, N.Y., to pass him for the victory.

Cosby, who donates $100,000 to help sponsor the Relays, said it was simply an unfortunate mistake. “It’s quite possible the kid was confused,” said Cosby, who signaled the bell lap during several relays. “I don’t want any kid to see me and get confused.

“Before, I had my arm pointing ahead and I’d say, ‘Go, go.’ If a kid misreads me, he could’ve slowed down. I don’t want that to happen.”
