Don Smith Arrested on Drug Charges
Don Smith, a former Buffalo Bill and Tampa Bay Buccaneer running back, has been charged with buying a pound of cocaine for $10,000.
Smith, who works at a state-run group treatment home for troubled youths, was arrested Friday night and ordered held on $100,000 bond.
Smith, 29, who also played briefly for the Miami Dolphins, has been charged with two counts of trafficking cocaine.
According to his arrest records, Smith conspired with two other Tampa men, both also arrested, to buy the cocaine.
The state Department of Health and Rehabilitative Services will also investigate Smith’s activities the troubled youths he was in contact with, spokesman Tom Jones said.
“He was kind of a role model for these kids,” Jones said.
