Dutch veteran Jelle Nijdam extended his lead over non-teammates as his WordPerfect squad rode to an overwhelming time-trial victory in the second stage of the Tour DuPont bicycle race.
Nijdam, several times a winner of stages in the Tour de France, finished fourth in the day’s earlier first stage. The nine-year pro then helped propel his team to victory in the 15.4-mile second stage in 28 minutes 0.14 seconds, more than 23 seconds ahead of Coors Light and over 36 better than Chevrolet-L.A. Sheriffs.
