Police are asking for the public’s help in identifying a gunshot victim whose body was found 12 days ago rolled in a carpet and dumped beside a road.

A jogger discovered the man’s body about 7 a.m. May 1 in the 3200 block of Rolling Hills Drive, just south of Imperial Golf Course, Sgt. Danny Becerra said.

“There was no identification on the body and no missing-persons reports matching the man’s description,” Becerra said. “One lead we have are two cash gasoline receipts from stations in Hollywood, and we believe he may have lived or worked in that area.”

Becerra said the receipts were from Chevron stations at Highland Avenue and Hollywood Boulevard and at Crescent Heights and Sunset Boulevard.

The man, shot in the head and body, was about 50 years old and possibly of Middle Eastern descent. He was 5 feet, 7 inches tall, weighed 170 pounds and was cleanshaven, with brown eyes and graying, dark hair.

He wore black denim pants, Nike Air high-top shoes and a blue, green and beige, striped, collarless shirt, police said.

Anyone with information about the victim is asked to call Detective Doug Kennedy at (714) 738-6534 or (714) 738-6715.
