Becky Elcock
College: Orange Coast
Sport: Softball
Position: Third Base
Class: Sophomore
Elcock, like many of her teammates, has struggled with the bat at times this season. She hit only .190 in conference this season for the Pirates, who finished tied for second.
But she picked just the right time--the playoffs--to snap out of her slump. She was six for 11 as OCC won three games to advance to the State tournament for the third consecutive season under Coach Nick Trani.
Elcock, from Santiago High School, had a two-run home run and a run-scoring double in the championship game, a 3-0 victory over Antelope Valley.
Another top performer:
* Dena Villasenor of Cypress won twice, pitching 14 shutout innings in two relief appearances Friday for the Chargers in the Southern California playoffs.
