An Air Force sergeant was killed in an attempted carjacking in Riverside County and two other women were kidnaped and held for six hours in a second attack that began in Orange County, authorities said Thursday.

There were no arrests.

Air Force Technical Sgt. Yvonne M. Los was shot and killed by two teen-age boys when she refused to surrender her car outside a Moreno Valley fitness center at 10 p.m. Wednesday, said Sgt. Harvey Lionel at March Air Force Base.

Los, assigned to the Riverside base’s 22nd Medical Group, had left the fitness center, one mile from the base, and entered her car when the boys confronted her and fired a handgun through the window, Harvey said.

The boys, who authorities said were 15 to 17 years old, fled on foot. Los attempted to drive away but fell unconscious and crashed into a parked car, Harvey said. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

In Orange County, La Habra police were seeking a couple who abducted two women in a carjacking, drove to San Ysidro in San Diego County and released the women after threatening to kill them.

Ramona Archuleta, 35, and Luana Lovato, 32, of Rowland Heights were bruised and shaken after the six-hour ordeal that began at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Police Lt. Joe Milazzo said Thursday.

The women were stopped at a La Habra intersection when a man and woman forced their way into the car, pulling the victims’ hair and choking them, police said.

In San Ysidro, the kidnapers pushed the women out of the blue Chevrolet Caprice station wagon, but only after the couple had a heated argument about whether to kill the two women, said Detective Mike Mitchell.

The suspects, who robbed the women of cash and jewelry, were described as Latino and in their late 30s to early 40s. The man had a mustache and the woman had a stud earring in her right nostril, Milazzo said.
