ORANGE : 3 Rob Restaurant, Handcuff Manager

Share

Three men stole thousands of dollars in cash from a restaurant’s safes early Monday, escaping after handcuffing the manager, police said.

The manager had just opened Casey’s Restaurant, 1325 N. Tustin Ave., about 7 a.m. when he answered a knock at the back door, said Lt. Timm Browne.

Three men--one holding a shotgun--forced the manager inside and handcuffed him, police said. They demanded combinations to the three safes inside the bar and opened them.

A short time later, a food delivery man parked near the back door saw a man run out of Casey’s and return in a gray Chevrolet Camaro with tinted windows.

Two other men exited the restaurant’s back door, and the three drove away, Browne said. The delivery man called police, and investigators found the manager inside unharmed.

Police declined to identify the manager or specify the amount of money taken.
