Kennedy High kicker Jeremy Deach, an All-Northwest Valley Conference selection, has accepted a scholarship to Southwestern Louisiana, Coach Bob Francola said Tuesday.

“We’re pleased that someone finally showed faith in him,” Francola said.

“We knew he was deserving of a scholarship all along. Better late than never.”

Deach (6-1, 185 pounds) scored 30 points for the Golden Cougars last season.

He was successful on 12 of 13 extra points and six of 13 field-goal attempts. He averaged 41.2 yards per punt last season, Francola said. As a junior, Deach totaled 58 points.

He will join former Kennedy standout Ryan Mcgrath (‘89) at the Lafayette, La., school. Mcgrath plays tight end for the Ragin’ Cajuns.
