Minor league players will be banned from smoking and chewing tobacco at minor league stadiums June 15 for health reasons, baseball officials said.
Players will be penalized $300 for violating the rule. While officials can unilaterally put the rule into effect in the minor leagues, it is the subject of collective bargaining with the Major League Baseball Players Assn.
