LEGION ROUNDUP : Fullmer Blasts 2 Home Runs in Sepulveda Win

Brad Fullmer started his American Legion season with a bang, going four for five, including two home runs, to lead Sepulveda to a 19-6 victory over Mission Hills in a District 20 opener Saturday at Alemany High.

Fullmer, who hit 14 home runs in his senior season at Montclair Prep, drove in eight runs in the game, which was called after eight innings because of the 10-run rule.

Ethan Parker and Jeff Shapiro each had two hits for Sepulveda.

In other District 20 openers:

Lancaster South 8, Littlerock 6--Brian McMillan had two doubles and two runs batted in for Lancaster South at Littlerock High. George Pacheco was five for five with four RBIs for Littlerock.

Saugus 12, Quartz Hill 3--Brad Coukos pitched a complete game, striking out eight, for Saugus at Quartz Hill High. Will Wallace was three for four with two RBIs for Quartz Hill.

Sunland Tujunga 7, Burbank North 5--Jeff Deal started and finished, with Mike Rieger pitching in between, for Sunland Tujunga. Rich Lucero was three for four with two home runs for Sunland Tujunga.

Van Nuys South 10, Glendale 9 (10 innings)--Justin Howard tripled in two runs to tie the score in the eighth inning, then singled home the winning run in the bottom of the 10th as Van Nuys South battled back from a 5-0 third-inning deficit.

David Forst, Aaron Amitin and Josh Weiss each had two hits for Van Nuys South.

INTERDISTRICT

North Hollywood 11, Thousand Oaks 3--Kevin O’Malley was two for four with three RBIs and three pitchers held Thousand Oaks without an earned run. Mike Delano (1-0), Nick Cramer and Carlos Sandoval pitched for North Hollywood (3-1).

North Hollywood’s Alex Ramos was three for five with four stolen bases. The game was the season opener for Thousand Oaks.
