CS Northridge Signs 3 for Track

Mike McClintock of Golden West College, Joseph Criner of St. Bernard High and Armando Lerma of Indio High have signed letters of intent with the Cal State Northridge men’s track and field team.

McClintock finished second in the javelin in the state junior college championships last month and has a personal best of 210 feet 3 inches.

Criner finished second in the 100 and 200 meters in the Southern Section Division III championships on May 22 and has personal bests of 10.90 seconds and 21.80, respectively.

Lerma finished 15th in the state Division II cross-country championships last fall and placed sixth in the 800 in last month’s Southern Section Division II track championships. He has run 1:57.18 in the 800 and 4:24.75 in the 1,600.

The Matadors also have received a commitment from Morris Giddens of Gardena High, but the City Section champion in the 1,600 must score a minimum of 700 on the Scholastic Aptitude Test.
