THOUSAND OAKS : Authorities Arrest 3 Youths in Graffiti Spree

Share

Sheriff’s deputies arrested three teen-agers Sunday in connection with graffiti painted in a residential area near the 2000 block of East Avenida de Los Arboles in Thousand Oaks.

Deputies said they arrested the Thousand Oaks boys, two of them 15 and one 17, after receiving phone calls from residents about graffiti on vehicles, walls, sidewalks and carports.

Damage was estimated at $5,000, authorities said.

The boys had been picked up near the scene several hours earlier, at about 5:20 a.m., for causing a disturbance, deputies said.

At that time the deputies did not notice the graffiti and took the boys home.

But when residents called to report the graffiti, deputies said they returned to the boys’ homes, “found evidence linking the juveniles to the (graffiti) crime” and arrested all three on suspicion of committing felony vandalism. The three were released into their parents’ custody and the investigation is continuing, deputies said.
