It Might Take an Army to Catch These Catfish

Share

Two giant catfish, christened General Sherman, 63 pounds, and Gen. Ulysses S. Grant, 53 pounds, have been planted in the Santa Ana River Lakes with hopes they will grow to surpass the overall world record of 109 pounds 4 ounces.

The fish, identifiable by tags, are blue-channel hybrids that grow about 30% faster than normal catfish. Sherman was put in Rainbow Basin Lake, Grant in Catfish Lake. Anybody catching one will receive a $500 reward if the fish is kept alive in the water until verified and released.
