Pete Incaviglia’s three-run homer capped a five-run rally in the seventh inning, lifting the Philadelphia Phillies to a 7-6 victory over the Mets Thursday at New York, despite Bobby Bonilla’s home runs from both sides of the plate.

The Phillies were shut out for five innings by Bret Saberhagen and trailed, 5-0. But after he left because of cramping behind his right shoulder, the Phillies roughed up three relievers.

“I can believe what happened after I left. It’s been happening all year,” Saberhagen said. “I felt the bullpen couldn’t hold it. That’s why I wanted to go back for the sixth inning.”

Philadelphia has won 13 of 17 games and is 41-17 this season. Bonilla drove in four runs for New York, which is 6-13 under Manager Dallas Green and 19-38 overall.

The Phillies won even though starter Tommy Greene, who began the night with an 8-0 record, a major league-leading 1.87 earned-run average and a streak of five complete games, lasted only 1 2/3 innings. He gave up four runs, five hits and three walks.

“What happened tonight, it shows you what kind of team this is,” Greene said. “I didn’t do anything. We spotted them five runs, and we came back to win.”

Cincinnati 3, Atlanta 1--Tim Belcher continued his recent dominance of slumping Atlanta, narrowly missing a second consecutive shutout of the Braves to lift the Reds at Atlanta.

Belcher (4-4), who pitched a one-hitter in a 4-0 victory in his last start against the Braves on May 26, had a perfect game for 5 1/3 innings before Mark Lemke beat out an infield single.

Glavine (7-3) lost for the third successive time.

Florida 4, Pittsburgh 3--Bryan Harvey set a record for saves by an expansion reliever with his 17th after Dave Magadan’s two-out single in the eighth inning broke a tie at Miami.

Magadan’s single drove in Orestes Destrade who had tripled with one out against Dave Otto (2-4), leading the Marlins to their fifth victory in six games.

Harvey broke Enrique Romo’s 1977 record for saves set with the Seattle Mariners.

St. Louis 7, Montreal 4--Ozzie Smith and Gregg Jefferies had run-scoring doubles in the seventh inning, lifting Bob Tewksbury and the Cardinals at St. Louis.

Tewksbury (5-6) gave up nine hits and three earned runs in seven innings. Lee Smith, the third St. Louis pitcher, worked a scoreless ninth for his 17th save.

Jefferies has hit .563 (18 for 32) over his last eight games to raise his average from .261 to .308.
