David Rubio, 18, was in serious condition after being shot in the stomach. Cruz Espinoza, 24, was in fair condition after being shot in the lower back, according to Karen Nichols, nursing supervisor at St. John’s Regional Medical Center in Oxnard.

Port Hueneme police said the shootings occurred about 1:40 a.m. in the 1700 block of 7th St.

According to police, officers found Rubio and Espinoza lying in the street when they arrived. Police said they are looking for three male suspects whom the victims met at the party.

Rubio and Espinoza were standing in the street outside the party with the three suspects when one suspect pulled out a handgun, police said. The suspects left the scene before police arrived.

A woman who lives several houses down from the party said she heard three gunshots.

“It woke me up,” said the woman, who asked not to be identified. “There was a loud party going on all night, but I didn’t see anything.”
