16 Get Appointments to Service Academies

Sixteen Ventura County high school graduates nominated by Reps. Anthony C. Beilenson and Elton Gallegly have been selected to attend U.S. military academies beginning next month.
The students will emerge from their respective academies with college degrees as commissioned officers who will be expected to serve at least six years in the military.
The students were nominated by Beilenson (D-Woodland Hills) and Gallegly (R-Simi Valley) based on their leadership potential along with academic and athletic performance.
Attending the U.S. Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, Colo., will be Jonathan T. Berardinelli of Newbury Park, David C. Page of Ojai, Timothy F. Sehnem of Simi Valley, and Christine Callahan, Nicholas Foster and Paul Foster of Thousand Oaks.
Selected to become cadets at the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, N.Y., are Jamie J. Arundell of Fillmore, Nick Ayers of Thousand Oaks, Michael Ellis of Ventura, Ralph Radka of Simi Valley and Bradley Schwan of Westlake Village.
Chosen to attend the U.S. Naval Academy in Annapolis, Md., are Leo Asman of Westlake Village, Darren R. Genstil of Newbury Park, Christina M. Goodwin of Agoura, Jenelle H. Holtz of Simi Valley and Jeffrey D. Krone of Moorpark.
