Glendale Doctor Receives Award for Lupus Work

Dr. Mary McGrath of Glendale, a rheumatology fellow at the UCLA School of Medicine, has received the Physician Scientist Development Award from the American College of Rheumatology for her research involving lupus kidney disease and harmful antibody genes.

* Bill Casano, a volunteer peer counselor at Glendale Memorial Hospital and Health Center, has been given a special commendation by the Greater Glendale Council on Aging for his 1,200 hours of volunteer time over the past eight years as one of the founding members of Senior Peer Counseling.

* Robin L. Moody, a Glendale resident and business owner, has been reelected secretary of the board of directors for the Los Angeles Child Guidance Clinic.

* Winifred Gatz Sobieck, a retired Glendale school teacher, was honored as a member of the Mount St. Mary’s College class of 1943 during the school’s recent graduation ceremonies.

* Lucile W. Ballantyne of Glendale has been appointed by the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors for another term on the county Commission for Public Social Services.

* John Hagerman of Glendale placed second in the crafts category in the Artwalk ’93 juried fine arts and designer crafts exhibition in Thousand Oaks. Hagerman is the owner of Unicorn Strings.
