SIMI VALLEY : Valencia Motorcyclist Killed in Accident
A 57-year-old Valencia man died in a motorcycle accident, Simi Valley police said Tuesday.
Richard Joseph Demattie was driving his motorcycle north on 1st Street in Simi Valley about 7:50 p.m. Monday when he hit a curb and was thrown off the bike, police said. Demattie landed on his bike, which had crashed into a fire hydrant, police said.
Demattie was pronounced dead at Simi Valley Hospital a short time later. An autopsy performed Tuesday showed Demattie had died of traumatic neck and chest injuries, Senior Deputy Coroner Craig Stevens said.
Police have not yet determined how fast Demattie was traveling at the time of the accident.
