FOUNTAIN VALLEY : Sobriety Checkpoint to Operate Tonight
The Police Department will maintain a sobriety checkpoint tonight from 10 p.m. to 3 a.m. on Magnolia Street south of Warner Avenue.
The checkpoint is the 10th in a series of 12 that the department has conducted since Oct. 31.
Sgt. Larry Griswold said the checkpoints have resulted in the arrests of 57 motorists on suspicion of drunk driving.
The department received a $13,000 grant from the state Office of Traffic Safety to buy equipment for staging the checkpoints and educational materials warning against drinking and driving and promoting seat belt use.
