Long Beach : Recreation Park to Have Exercise Area for Dogs
- Share via
A group of dog lovers will open an exercise area for canines this Saturday at Recreation Park.
The fenced area, which is 400 feet long and ranges in width from 100 to 140 feet, will be the only place in the city’s parks where a dog is allowed off its leash.
The dog park is the brainchild of Clyde Cicotte and the Long Beach Dog Park Assn. Donations totaling $3,500 were needed to fence in the area.
The dog park will open at 11:30 a.m. Saturday. Afterward, daily hours will be 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. There is no admission charge, but owners must clean up after their pets. Dogs must be at least 4 months old and licensed.
