VAN NUYS : Man Shot Fleeing Carjack Attempt
A 23-year-old man was shot in the arm early Friday morning as he fled from a would-be carjacker at a Van Nuys intersection, Los Angeles police said.
Joey Carrillo Rivas stopped for a red light at Hazeltine Avenue and Burbank Boulevard about 3:15 a.m., when he was approached by two men, one of whom pointed a gun at Rivas and demanded his green 1981 El Camino pickup truck, said Lt. Harvie Eubank.
Rivas refused and fled the intersection in the truck, Eubank said. The gunman fired at least two shots at Rivas, who was wounded in the arm. He was treated at a hospital and released.
No suspects had been arrested Friday.
