Share

The U.S. team for today’s game against Jamaica in Dallas has five players who normally play in Europe and have proved to be the difference between mediocrity and excellence for the team.

At striker is Eric Wynalda of Westlake Village, who plays in Germany. At forwards are Roy Wegerle, who plays in the English Premier League, and Tab Ramos, who plays in Spanish second division. Tom Dooley, formerly of Kaiserslautern of the German Bundesliga, will start at defensive midfielder, and John Harkes, who plays for Sheffield Wednesday in the English Premier League, at right back.

On the wings are Chris Henderson, the former UCLA All-American, and Cobi Jones, another former UCLA player from Westlake Village. Fernando Clavijo will start at left back, Desmond Armstrong at sweeper, Cle Kooiman at stopper and Tony Meola in goal.
