Bicyclist Dies in Hit-Run Accident
A car struck and killed a man Saturday as he rode a bicycle along 3rd Street in the La Colonia section of Oxnard, authorities said.
The white Buick Regal hit the man at 4:30 p.m., throwing him about 15 feet across a center divider and mangling his bicycle, said Oxnard police investigator Randey Cole.
The man, identified as Guadalupe Jimenez, 62, died at the scene from head injuries, according to authorities.
The car continued down 3rd Street near Marquita Street, where it ran into a chain-link fence. At that point, Cole said, four men described as being in their late teens and early 20s scrambled from the car and fled into the neighborhood.
Police found one witness, Cole said. No suspects had been located by late Saturday.
