Two Fires Burn 600 Acres
Firefighters battled two wildfires Sunday in San Bernardino County that charred more than 600 acres of federal land.
One fire, at the top of Cajon Pass, forced officials to temporarily shut down northbound lanes of Interstate 15. The freeway reopened after 10 minutes, although the blaze caused passing vehicles to slow.
The fire charred more than 300 acres of scrub on Cleghorn Mountain.
A second fire east of Adelanto burned more than 300 acres of federal land.
Larry Stanford, Bureau of Land Management dispatcher supervisor, said the fire was sparked by gunfire. Two people were cited, he said.
