ITT Technical Institute Plans to Launch Oxnard Campus

ITT Technical Institute, a nationwide chain of schools offering instruction in electronic engineering, software programming, computerized designing and other fields, plans to launch a new unit in Oxnard, probably in December.

The institute, which has 46 locations nationwide, several of them in Southern California, will open its first Ventura County campus near the Ventura Freeway in northeast Oxnard, according to Tim Grant of CB Commercial Real Estate Group in Ventura.

He said the school will be on property owned by the McGrath real estate interests.

Lisa Bielejewski, spokeswoman at the school’s parent company, ITT Educational Services in Indianapolis, confirmed that the lease has been signed, but said it is contingent upon receiving accreditation from California education authorities.

“Official approval is very important to us,” she said. “It allows us to offer associate of arts degrees in engineering and other subjects. Some of our schools are even accredited to offer bachelor’s degrees.”

Bielejewski said she expects ITT’s Oxnard campus to have several hundred students when fully established.

The two ITT units are subsidiaries of ITT Corp., based in New York.
