The Associated Press contributed to this report

Debbie Graham, a former Fountain Valley tennis standout, will replace injured doubles partner Pam Shriver on the U.S. Federation Cup team.

Graham will join Lindsay Davenport, Ann Grossman and Lori McNeil for the international competition July 19-26 at Frankfurt, Germany. Shriver has a stress fracture in her left leg and will be sidelined four to six weeks.

Graham and Shriver went 3-0 against Britain, Denmark and Germany on last year’s team, which lost in the semifinals.

“We will definitely miss Pam’s veteran leadership capabilities and competitive fire, but Debbie is an excellent replacement,” team captain Marty Riessen said.

The United States has won the Federation Cup a record 14 times. The most recent title came in a 1990 victory over the Soviet Union.

Salsa forward Paul Wright was named the American Professional Soccer League player of the week Monday after leading the team to victories Saturday and Sunday.

Wright scored the only goal in a shootout in the Salsa’s victory over the Fort Lauderdale Strikers Saturday and scored the first goal Sunday in a 2-0 victory over the Colorado Foxes.

Wright, who received player of the week honors for the second time this season, has seven goals and five assists, giving him 19 points and a share of the league scoring lead with Tampa Bay’s Paul Dougherty.
