For the fourth straight year, Mission Viejo has won a national award for its budget report for the just-concluded fiscal year.

The city’s report for the fiscal year ending in June, 1992, was recognized this week with the Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting, city officials said on Tuesday.

Patricia Brunell, a senior accountant for the city, was also honored with a Financial Reporting Achievement reward as the city official charged with putting together the report.

“It’s the fourth year in a row for us; we like continuing our tradition of getting this honor,” said Irwin Bornstein, chief financial officer for Mission Viejo. “The award reflects the honor that (Brunell) puts into the financial report.”

The award is sponsored by the Government Finance Officers Assn. of the United States and Canada, a nonprofit organization based in Chicago and Washington.
