Mike Batesole, a five-year assistant in the community college ranks, has been hired as assistant baseball coach at Cal State Northridge, Matador Coach Bill Kernen said Monday.
Batesole, 29, comes to Northridge from Cypress College, where he was an assistant for one season. The four previous seasons, he was an assistant at Orange Coast College.
Batesole replaces Stan Sanchez, who left last spring to become coach at Southern Colorado.
A graduate of Garden Grove High, Batesole played three seasons at third base for Oral Roberts University, then spent five years in the Dodger organization.
Kernen said Batesole was selected from among 39 applicants.
“He has a good background, strong references, and he’s a good guy,” Kernen said.
