Motorcyclist Killed After Hitting Tree

An Oxnard man died Sunday after he lost control of his motorcycle and slammed into a tree, a spokesman for the Ventura County coroner’s office said.
Lawrence D. Drennwald, 34, was driving along California 33 north of Wheeler Gorge when he swerved off the road and was thrown from his motorcycle into an oak tree, Senior Deputy Coroner Craig Stevens said.
Drennwald was airlifted to Ventura Regional Medical Center, where we was pronounced dead on arrival of major chest injuries, Stevens said. An investigation into the crash was continuing.
