SAN JUAN CAPISTRANO : Jewelry, Car Stolen by Home Invaders
Five men woke up a couple at gunpoint early Monday and stole about $2,000 in jewelry, sheriff’s deputies said.
No one was injured during the robbery, which occurred in the 31300 block of Avenida Los Cerritos about 12:55 a.m.
Sheriff’s Lt. Dick Olson said the residents woke up to find four men in the house.
Later, they discovered that another person was outside acting as a lookout.
The robbers were armed with a semiautomatic handgun and a machete.
The men demanded money and jewelry and told the couple they would not be harmed if they cooperated, Olson said.
In addition to the jewelry, the robbers stole a car from the house. The car was abandoned nearby.
Sheriffs are looking for five males in their late teens to early 20s.
All were between 5 feet, 3 inches and 5 feet, 5 inches tall, and they fled in a light-colored, full-sized sedan.
