BASEBALL DAILY REPORT : AROUND THE MAJOR LEAGUES : Giants Claim Ex-Angel Sanderson
The San Francisco Giants claimed right-hander Scott Sanderson off waivers from the Angels. He has until Friday to report, at which time the Giants will make a roster move.
Sanderson, 37, was 7-11 with a 4.46 ERA in 21 starts for the Angels this season. The Giants pick up Sanderson’s existing $500,000 contract, and must pay all incentives.

The St. Louis Cardinals have extended the contracts of General Manager Dal Maxvill and Manager Joe Torre through the 1995 season. Florida Marlin third baseman Gary Sheffield flew to St. Louis to rejoin the team after X-rays of his aching right shoulder proved negative. . . . Bob Ojeda threw for 15 minutes in the Cleveland bullpen after returning from psychiatric treatment. Ojeda was injured in the boating accident that killed teammates Steve Olin and Tim Crews in March.
