Boy, 2, Killed After Walking in Front of Car

SYLMAR — A 2-year-old boy was killed Wednesday in Sylmar when he walked into the path of a car, Los Angeles police reported.
Virginia Martinez, 28, of Mission Hills was traveling north about 5 p.m. on Bromont Avenue near Maclay Avenue when Rodolfo Quintero of Sylmar tried to cross the same street, police said. The boy suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at Holy Cross Medical Center in Mission Hills.
Martinez was not cited in the accident, police said.
In an unrelated accident, Manuel Rodriquez, 30, of Sun Valley died Wednesday afternoon of injuries he suffered during a Tuesday traffic accident at De Garmo Avenue and Lorne Street in Sun Valley. A vehicle traveling north on De Garmo Avenue struck Rodriguez, who police said was believed to be intoxicated at the time.
