Clare Laventhol, 89; Mother of Times Mirror President
Clare Laventhol, 89, mother of David Laventhol, president of Times Mirror Co. and publisher and chief executive officer of the Los Angeles Times, died Friday in a Bethesda, Md., area hospital of complications after surgery.
Mrs. Laventhol, the widow of Jesse Laventhol, lived most of her life in the Washington, D.C., area.
Her other survivors include a daughter, Lucy Brody of Teaneck, N.J., eight grandchildren, one great-grandchild, and a sister, Frances Sanders of Seattle.
Contributions in her name may be made to the Jewish Braille Institute of America or Recording for the Blind Inc.
