HUNTINGTON BEACH : Police Substation to Open at Harbour

Share

Police Chief Ronald E. Lowenberg and other city officials are scheduled Wednesday to dedicate a police substation in Huntington Harbour.

The station, to be staffed part time by a police officer and police cadet, is designed to place officers in various city locations under the community-oriented police program that was implemented in January.

Substations currently operate in the Oak View community and in the downtown area. Another substation is expected to open in Huntington Center next month.

Space for the substation at the Huntington Harbour Mall is being donated to the city by D.D. Dunlop Companies, owners of the mall, according to Lt. Chuck Poe. The city will pay only for utilities, he said.

The officer assigned to the station will be available to give advice on police matters, take crime reports and make referrals to other agencies.

The substation, at 16889 Algonquin St., is expected to be staffed Tuesday through Friday, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The dedication ceremony is scheduled for 4 p.m.
