Authorities Seek Men in Carjacking in San Clemente
County sheriff’s deputies are looking for at least four men who were involved in a carjacking over the weekend, authorities said Monday.
No one was hurt in the incident, which occurred early Saturday on Camino de Estrella, Sheriff’s Lt. Dick Olson said.
Shortly before 3 a.m., a 20-year-old woman who was driving a 1992 Mercedes-Benz with four passengers pulled off Interstate 5 at Camino de Estrella, Olson said.
A small sedan cut in front of the Mercedes, forcing it to stop. Several men armed with handguns and knives jumped out of the car and threatened the people in the luxury car, demanding money, Olson said.
A man in the Mercedes got into a fight with one of the armed men while the others ran for help. Several of the armed men jumped into the Mercedes and drove off, with the others escaping in the sedan.
Olson said four to six men in their early 20s were involved in the carjacking.
