La Habra Girl Found in Pool Is in Critical State
LA HABRA — A 13-month-old girl who was pulled unconscious from a back-yard swimming pool was in extremely critical condition Friday, police said.
Officers tried to resuscitate Joann Coffman after she was pulled from a small wading pool Wednesday evening. She apparently fell into the shallow water and it was unclear how long she was in there, Capt. Terry Rammell said.
The girl was taken to Loma Linda University Medical Center. Hospital officials declined to provide any information at the request of family members.
The child’s parents were at home when she was found unconscious, police said.
The incident occurred the same day a 2-year-old girl slipped out of a flotation device while swimming in a pool at her grandparents’ home in Orange. The girl, Laurie-Ann L. Franks, died Thursday. She was the 10th child to drown this year in Orange County.
