VAN NUYS : Attendance Rises at Aviation Expo
The Van Nuys Airport Aviation Expo this weekend attracted more than 250,000 visitors who donated about 8,100 pounds of canned food for the hungry of Los Angeles, airport officials said Monday.
Charity booths at the two-day event also raised more than $45,000 by selling food and beverages.
By comparison, last year’s expo attracted about 200,000 visitors who donated about 15,000 pounds of food for the victims of last spring’s riots. Also, nonprofit groups operating concession booths raised more than $25,000.
The theme of this year’s expo was “A Tribute to Women in Aviation.” It included appearances by world famous aviator Bobbi Trout and the Misty Blues, an all-women sky-diving team.
